White hat Ed Hockuli's admission that he shouldn't have inadvertantly blown the Denver "forward pass" dead is all very well, and he's been rightly down graded, but that error still cost the Chargers badly.
My thought is this: When Cutler completed the touchdown throw to tie the game, was Coach Shanahans decision to go for 2 because momentum was with the Broncos after the injustice? Or was it because he is such a gentleman he gave his opposition the chance to right a wrong?
Yes, a PAT is virtually an automatic in the NFL and would have led to overtime but by going for 2 the veteran HC could have been thinking that his team shouldn't even have been in the position to tie the game after Cutlers fumble. Anybody else as optimistic about human nature as I am? Or is it, as Jerry McGuire stated, such a "cynical world" ?
